All new motor vehicles and vehicles brought into Ireland are subject to Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT) and must be registered with the Revenue Commissioners. However, before you purchase the VRT you must get an NCT to determine its category. Research before purchasing the car and make sure to get a car history check. There can be a number of problems if you don’t do the needed research.
