A Mini festival has been planned for Westport, Co Mayo, over the next few days.

The International Mini Meeting has picked Westport House for their 2017 event with a large gathering of classic Mini enthusiasts from the four corners of the world.

For the second time in 20 years, the International Mini Meeting will be proudly hosted by the Irish Mini Owners Club, Ireland’s largest classic Mini club.

Earlier this year, Irish MINI Owners Club travelled to the beautiful town of Lommel in Belgium to accept the Event Key for the International Mini Meeting.

This spectacular event will see thousands of classic and new Mini enthusiasts come together with their cars. They travel to a different country in Europe each year to celebrate the Mini car.

The MINI fest will include a slew of old and new models which will take centre stage at the event.

With some beautiful weather expected this weekend, the festival should prove a real hit.

Some festival goers are describing the festival as a 'MINI' version of the Electric Picnic, with 3,000 mini fans expected to attend.

At the mini fest will be 1,200 Minis of all shapes and sizes, new and old  all presented by their loving owners.

The guests of honour include Irish motor racing legend Mervyn Johnson and Paddy Hopkirk, who won the Monte Carlo Rally in a classic Mini in 1964.

The festival is being organised by the Irish MINI Owners Club but there will be more than just a huge collection of small cars there as the organisers will have lots of other fun stuff too for all in attendance.

They range from a MINI treasure hunt along the Wild Atlantic Way to a Puc Fada competition, a MINI owners' Club Olympic Games, slalom races and much more.

The festival is expected to  receive people from all over the world who just love these mini cars and will get under way at Westport House from today Friday 26 May and runs all the way to Sunday 28 May.
