Car Market Overview August 2021

The Nissan Qashqai was once again the best-selling car in Ireland sold by Independent dealers during the month of August, also coming in seventh and tenth places in the top ten.

The Audi A4 came in second place with the Ford Focus in third and fourth positions at Independent dealerships.

The top-ten cars sold by Independent traders were all diesels, which continues to be the most popular engine type in Ireland.

The Hyundai Tucson was again the best selling car at Franchise dealerships and also came in second place as well as eight places in the top ten. Again, nine out of ten cars sold at franchise dealerships were diesels.

The quickest selling car from Independent dealers in August 2021 was the 2018 Diesel Peugeot 508, with the 2010 Diesel Volkswagen Jetta coming in second. The quickest selling car from the franchise dealers was the 2010 Petrol Volkswagen Polo. The quickest selling cars in August were mostly petrol engines, so these cars are being snapped up.

The August report reveals that of the top ten cars sold privately, the top three were the 2007 Petrol Ford Focus, the 2011 Diesel BMW 5 Series and the 2007 Petrol Volkswagen Golf.

Of the top-ten cars valued during the month of August, the 2015 Diesel Volkswagen Golf not only came out in first place but also sixth place and tenth place in the overall cars valued category.
