There were disruptions to tram services this morning on the Luas Red Line in Dublin as a result of a collision between a truck and a Luas tram between Saggart and Belgard.

Two people were brought to Tallaght Hospital but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Services have been restored now but they were delayed for several hours due to the collision.

Transdev, the company which controls Luas operations said that the accident happened between 6am and 6.30am.

It warned that passengers would expect delays for a short period of time until they resolved the situation.

Five units from Dublin Fire Service and two ambulances attended the scene.

The Outer Ring Rd southbound was blocked at Bothar Katherine Tynan following the incident.

Red Line services operated as normal between Tallaght and the Point and Dublin Bus was accepting Luas tickets.

Transdev apologised for the inconvenience to passengers.
